I-CHEM Company has a long history in the Environmental Industry. The company began as I-CHEM
Research, Inc., supplying certified containers to environmental and analytical laboratories.
Working closely with the U.S. EPA to supply its Contract Laboratory Program (CLP), I-CHEM
developed and published specific cleaning procedures. Containers were processed and certified
to meet the low concentration Contract Required Quantitation Limits (CRQL) for organic and
inorganic parameters. At that time, I-CHEM was the only supplier of certified containers. Its
methods, services and terminology became the standard in the industry which other bottle
suppliers still follow today. Over the years I-CHEM worked to perfect its cleaning process. In
1991, I-CHEM used the information gathered from its years of experience and research to move
to the next level in processing containers. It announced that all 200 and 300 Series
containers would be processed and certified according to Performance-Based Specifications
(PBS) and the cleaning procedures themselves became from then on proprietary. Performance based specifications require that products meet or exceed analytical specifications
established by the U.S. EPA as outlined in the document entitled "Specifications and Guidance
for Contaminant-Free Sample Containers" (OSWER Directive #9240 0-05A, December, 1992).
I-CHEM company became part of Chase Scientific Glass, Inc. in 2004. I-CHEM’s primary concern is that all its containers
meet or exceed the analytical specifications outlined in the OSWER Directive noted above.
I-CHEM’s Performance-Based Specifications program will continue to provide customers with the
most comprehensive list of analytes and lowest quantitation limits for Inorganics, Volatile
Organics, Semi-Volatile Organics and Pesticides. I-CHEM intends to provide processed and
certified containers to meet all of its customers’ container needs for today and tomorrow.
To this end, I-CHEM recently installed new state-of-the-art cleaning equipment. This
equipment is housed in a facility dedicated to container preparation. I-CHEM is known, and
depended upon, for following strict quality assurance requirements for all its products.
